At 23:56 on December 22, 2025, Huayu Tongfang, a holding subsidiary of Levima Advanced Materials, successfully commissioned its 4,000 t/y vinylene carbonate (VC) lithium battery additive unit located in the Wenshang Chemical Industry Park, Jining, Shandong Province. The project achieved one-time full-process start-up and smoothly produced qualified products, marking the official start of commercial operation.
With the rapid growth of the new energy storage and new energy industries, demand for lithium batteries continues to rise. As the largest-volume additive used in lithium battery electrolytes, vinylene carbonate (VC) serves as both an organic film-forming additive and an overcharge protection additive. It effectively improves battery capacity and cycle life and is critical to enhancing overall battery performance. As a result, VC has attracted strong market attention, with market prices increasing by more than 260% since October.
The Huayu Tongfang VC unit uses the company’s self-produced ethylene carbonate (EC) as its primary raw material and has achieved independent technological breakthroughs across multiple key production stages. The process features higher conversion efficiency, lower energy consumption, and industry-leading product purity and technical standards.
